Saint Francis De Sales

Hebrews 10:1-10; Psalm 40:2, 4, 7-8 10-11; Mark 3: 31-35

Gentleman Saint

St Francis De Sales, Bishop of Geneva, was known for his deep faith and gentle approach to religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation. He is the patron saint of adult education, deaf people and journalists. His Introduction to the Devout Life was, and still is, a classic of spiritual direction. Paul tells us in Christ’s offering of himself through death we are called to be holy. We need to have an open ear, a song of praise on our lips and the gift of ourselves. Let us pray today “Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.”
