New resolutions

Today marks the seven days of Christmas and we return to the Christmas Gospel reading. The Gospel shares a striking image of a light that has appeared in our world, yet people do not want to notice it. Those who turn and accept this light ‘become children of God’; receive grace and truth. Today many of us may try to reflect on the coming new year. Perhaps it is an opportunity for New Year’s resolutions to be focussed on ‘being’ not ‘doing’. Who do I want to ‘be’ for my family and friends? What light - value - virtue - talent - do I wish to shine in our world as a reflection of God for the coming year?
