Wanting a sign

There is a Christmas story of a dad on Christmas night, waiting at home as his wife and children were at Church. A little kitten was crying outside in the rain and he tried to welcome the wet kitten inside and offer it warmth and some milk. The kitten could not understand and accept his offer of support and remained wet and cold outside. Suddenly it dawned on him. He would have to take on the condition of the kitten and speak the kitten’s language to be able to communicate his love and care. This was in fact what was being celebrated at Christmas in Church. We have been given a sign, will we understand it and be transformed by it?
