The Jesus Prayer

The shouting prayer of the two blind men has become famous in Christian spirituality and the centring prayer tradition: ‘Jesus, Son of David, take pity on us.’ A blind person being able to ‘see’ is probably the most transformative human experience imaginable. It became a symbol of baptism and ‘new life’. What is a transformation that you wholeheartedly seek? You may like to reach into the deep practice of Christians throughout the centuries in holding this desire-prayer with belief in Jesus and practice it as a prayer mantra today ‘Son of David, take pity on me’.
