Reaching out

St Elizabeth of Hungary whose feast it is today, is remembered for the way she revered Christ through reaching out to care for the needy and poor.

The gospel reading tells us that Jesus shed tears over Jerusalem, saying if only they

“had understood the message of peace, but it is hidden from your eyes.” What then does the gospel call us to this day? Perhaps it is to open our eyes and recognise what God is offering us in our time. Where can I reach out in peace to others?
