Storm clouds

Behind Jesus’ pleading to read the weather signs and for the Jewish in-fighting to stop is the menace of the Roman occupier. Referring to the storm clouds, Jesus predicts the terrible destruction of Jerusalem by Rome in 70 AD – an event that had already occurred by the time the Gospels were written down. In short, our actions have consequences. How we live our faith and therefore treat one another brings ‘peace on earth’ or war.
