ST TERESA OF JESUS

Ephesians 1:15-23; Psalm 8:2-7; Luke 12:8-12

Speaking at a trial

Most of the apostles would die as martyrs. At the time the Gospels were being written down, Jesus’ words of encouragement were particularly precious to the early persecuted Christian communities. It seems they worried about what to say at a trial. Jesus assures them that the Holy Spirit is close to them. God will care for and protect the faithful believing Christian – even to helping him or her speak. The genuine believer is the best testimony. So too, in our own day.
