Jonah and Solomon

After calling him possessed (last Friday), the people now want a ‘sign’ (or miracle) from Jesus as proof to the contrary. What is the “sign of Jonah”? In Luke, it is Jonah himself and his preaching which was sufficient to convert Nineveh. (No reference here to the whale.) And the pagan Queen of the South who made a long journey to the court of Solomon to learn from him, praised God for his holy wisdom. Jesus upbraids the unbelief of “this generation” for he (Jesus) is greater than both Jonah (the brave preacher) and Solomon (the wise king).
