A smitten parent

“If you then who are evil…” Isn’t that a bit harsh? Surely the people who stayed back to listen to Jesus were basically good folk? It is a shock biblical expression (think: the prophets) to sharpen the contrast between God who is pure goodness, and us. (‘Flawed’ would capture the sense today.) The selfless care that the most smitten parent shows to their child might impress us but it is still only a pale reflection of God’s care for us. Who else would undergo a crucifixion?
