Mary and Martha

“Yet few things are needed, indeed only one.” What might this “one thing” be? That thing above all others? It can only be our Lord himself. And at this moment as he speaks and teaches, Mary chooses him. She attends to him. For now, this is good hospitality. Earlier, in the parable of the sower, Jesus has spoken of the Word being choked by the cares and worries of this world. Mary has “chosen the better part.”
