Saint Pius of Pietrelcina (Padre Pio)

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11; Psalm 144; Luke 9:18-22

Day of the Passion

Today’s Saint is commonly called Padre Pio, a favourite of many Italians – his photo is in many churches. A Capuchin friar known for bearing the wounds of Christ (the stigmata) on his body from 1918 till his death in 1968. He was a renowned confessor, celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation many thousands of times each year. His feast day this year is on Friday, the day of the Lord’s Passion and Death. It would be good to pray for those who bear the wounds of soul and body
