A motley crew

When we look at the list of Jesus’ chosen disciples we might have questions about some of them: fishermen, a tax collector, Judas the future betrayer, a Zealot who believed in violence. Yet all except Judas became saints and are venerated by Christians to this day! We who profess to follow the Lord today should be consoled by this fact. Jesus knows us too and loves us in our imperfection and believes in our capacity to be changed by his love. The moments when we recognise how flawed we are can become moments of growth in our relationship with Jesus and our Christian journey.
