He was filled with pity

It is so moving to see the depth of compassion Jesus has for his suffering people. His heart was “filled with pity for them.” Did he look ahead and see that the world would always need healing? Is this why he prayed for others to continue his work? Here it seems Jesus is asking each of us to have compassion for the pain of the world and to work with him in whatever way we are able, to contribute to the alleviating of this suffering. Today we see the agony of Yemen, Afghanistan, Ukraine. How deeply are we moved with Christ-like compassion? How much are we contributing to the healing of the world?
