A teaching repeated

Why does the Church place before us the same reading about half-hearted disciples two days in a row? Perhaps because repetition is a good technique for helping us remember an important lesson? Jesus wasn’t afraid to demand much of those who were attracted to him. Without hesitation, and time and again, he said ‘follow me’. Leave your boats, your families, all that you treasure; that’s the cost of following me. If that is what he preached then that is what his Church must also preach now. The repetition of an important lesson.
