Joy to the world

Reflecting on the prophet’s psalm of joy is a good way to round off Mary’s month of May. Sometimes we just need to let go of all our worries about our lives, the world and the Church, to hear the prophet’s words. Zephaniah’s quite feminine reading brings us to acknowledge that deepest part of our hearts where joy is received. Joy often surprises us with its over-whelming presence when it bubbles up from our hearts. The words of the Magnificat bubble up out of Mary’s heart in a prayer of praise.
