Suffering servant

Keeping my discipleship in touch with heaven, trying to know Jesus as the suffering servant and as master of my life means that I will suffer too. Failures to love as Jesus Christ loves bring spiritual suffering. Such failures are to be embraced in the spirit of mercy and forgiveness, both of myself and others. In this sense our lives are seen as not belonging in a world that avoids suffering at all cost. Yet I must not seek refuge from this meaningless world but live in it gladly as a servant of it.
