Turn to God

Fasting is more than just giving up food. By foregoing food we are reminding ourselves we need nourishment for our souls. We are choosing to turn to God. As it says in Isaiah, there’s no point in fasting while at the same time being grumpy or exploitative. First we fast, and second we fast well - that is with a heart of thankfulness for God’s goodness, and also with a heart that wants to reach out and care for those in need around us.
