Be compassionate

There is a good saying which goes –‘be compassionate to everyone, starting with yourself.’ The first reading from Samuel and the Gospel today speak of compassion. It is good to be compassionate to others, but also to ourselves. We can feel guilt and shame about things that have happened in our lives. God wants us to know his mercy towards us and for us to forgive ourselves. We are all weak, we all make mistakes. Being compassionate towards ourselves helps us to move on.
