With the eyes of Christ

To be able to speak and to see are precious gifts given to us by God. We should not take them for granted and should ensure that they are used appropriately. St James today instructs us not to speak angrily and lose control of our tongue. Jesus, in healing the blind man, is not just healing a physical ailment but leading him to a deeper awareness of who he is. It is good to ask the Lord to help us to see things as he sees them, and speak in words that he would use.
