He raises the lowly

Jesus is willing to heal a non-Jewish, Syrophoenician girl in the Gospel today because of the faith of her mother. Solomon in the first reading strays from his faith in the one true God to worship foreign gods. What a contrast there is between these two people. Sometimes it is the faith of the lowly that moves mountains, and not the fine words of those who take the places of honour. It is good to humbly pray for things in faith, even though we may feel unworthy.
