Truly rich

The readings today encourage us to ask, “what constitutes true wealth?” The Queen of Sheba brought marvellous gifts to Solomon, and yet it was his wisdom she truly valued. Jesus takes the issue further. Food prohibitions and other observances do not make a person clean, but rather the goodness and justice which reside in a person’s heart. Our wealth comes from living good Christian lives, building up our families and bringing back those who have gone astray. In doing this we become truly rich.
