The Growing Seed

In contrast to the Sower and the Seed, which can cause us to worry about the quality of our ‘soil,’ today’s parable offers an opposite picture. The seed is fertile. It sprouts and grows while the farmer sleeps. We glimpse the unstoppable dynamism of the reign of God. In spite of our limitations, God brings about growth. How does this parable give me courage and hope when it seems my efforts for the reign of God are fruitless?
