Isaiah 41:13-20; Psalm 145:1, 9-13a; Matthew 11:11-15

Vocation

The Holy Spirit inspired John’s father to proclaim his son’s vocation to be prophet and precursor. Zechariah and Elizabeth must have shared this prophetic word with John when he was old enough to understand. That’s why John went out into the desert, as soon as he was able, to prepare. The Lord praised John for the way he lived his calling. God gives everyone a vocation. Let’s pray that the young will hear and answer God’s call either to marriage, the single state, religious life, or ministerial priesthood.
