Place of honour

Jesus was an astute observer of human behaviour. Our need to be seen, to be acknowledged and affirmed, can take over our sense of what is the right thing to do. Jesus points out that honour has to be earned and must never be presumed. It is enough for us to know that God never takes back his gifts or revokes his choice. We are honoured in having been chosen. Nothing else matters.
