Pope John Paul II (1978-2005) is credited with influencing the collapse of Soviet Communism and dismantling the Berlin Wall. It is perhaps too early to assess his whole pontificate, yet the spiritual impact of his life is unquestioned. Here is one of his often quoted expressions we can make our own: “Let us remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm, and look forward to the future with confidence.” St John Paul II, pray for us and all people.
