Cleanliness

Cleanliness is next to godliness – or so the saying goes. We are encouraged to wash our hands regularly as protection from Covid-19. But Jesus looks beneath the surface of our lives to what drives our words and actions. This is where true godliness lies. Good hygiene is important, but without a clean heart no amount of hand-washing or hand-wringing will expose our God-image. Create in me a clean heart, O God; put a steadfast spirit within me [Psalm 51].
