Well done!

As a pastor, I am often inspired by the sheer goodness of parishioners. Actually, I am sure priests throughout this land would agree, that one of the most encouraging aspects of pastoral ministry is the kindness of those we pastor. Goodness is contagious. What characterises all of this is the lack of self-absorption, superseded by both an interest and concern for others. The parable offers the tragic response of the servant with the one talent, filled with concern for self. What a sad waste. We are invited to live for others. What might be my response to those in need this day? Can I hear those words of the parable, “well done, good and trustworthy servant!”
