Unless a wheat grain … dies

One of the lessons of life is letting go. We always want to hold on and make do ourselves. Today, Jesus invites us to take courage from the grain of wheat that falls into the earth and dies. This natural image resonates. There is a letting go that is more like a resignation; and then there is a choiceful letting go that conveys trust. I am frequently amazed, in hindsight, at the way something has worked out and wonder why I didn’t let go sooner. We are friends of Jesus and can we keep trusting that this friendship is enough?
