Sheep without a shepherd

Jeremiah saw Jerusalem captured, the Temple destroyed, and God’s people exiled. He blamed poor leaders, comparing them with the coming Messiah. St Paul reminds us that division is over. Jew and Gentile are reconciled in Christ. God’s peace heals contempt. Who are you separated from? The Gospel shows Jesus caring for his weary disciples and then having pity on the crowd, teaching and feeding them. In the Eucharist, Jesus feeds us with teaching and bread from heaven. Ponder today, when have you fed others with your presence, life, or words?
