Troubled times

The time between the death and resurrection of Jesus and the descent of the Holy Spirit was testing and confusing for the disciples. Even though the risen Lord had appeared at different times and in different places, they felt afraid and daunted by the mission Jesus gave them – to proclaim the Good News to the ends of the earth. On the eve of Pentecost, let us pray with the words of the gospel acclamation: “I will send you the Spirit of truth, says the Lord; He will lead you to the whole truth. Alleluia!”
