The essence

In a world of multi-media messaging, the essence of a news item can be easily distorted, becoming misinformation and fake news. In the early Church, Judas and Silas were chosen by the community to “confirm by word of mouth” what was written in the letter to the people in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia, who were disturbed by the demands made of them in the name of the Good News. John captured the essence of what Jesus asks of us, “This is my commandment: love one another, as I have loved you.” May we take time today to ponder Jesus’ simple and profound message and act on it.
