The Good Shepherd

Like the prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus draws on metaphors and images to teach us about God’s intimate love and care of his people. The good shepherd is a favourite image. She or he knows every sheep individually and tends the flock with careful dedication. Jesus takes this dedication to a new level. He will even give his life for his sheep. That will be his testimony to the depth of God’s love. Lord, help me to trust in your love.
