It is I

How often do we fail to recognise the presence of God in the events of our world or in our own lives! We understand that God is present in all of creation, the stars in the heavens, the flowers in our gardens and, yes, in the joys and pains of our own lives. But when Jesus appeared to his disciples out on Lake Tiberius, they were alarmed and terrified and failed to recognise him. Across the water, he called to them, “Do not be afraid. It is I.” Lord open my heart and my eyes to your presence today, around me and within me.
