Betrayed

Betrayal in action. Judas negotiates with the chief priests over payment for handing over Jesus. Jesus sends two disciples to prepare the Passover meal at which he says one of them will betray him. Now the disciples are the ones distressed, and each asks Jesus: “You don’t mean me, do you, Lord?” In the journey through life there are times when we, too, betray Jesus. Like the disciples we can ask: “Is it I, Lord?” We may not have the same motive for betrayal as Judas, but we can fail to accept the loving gesture of Jesus.
