The boding presence

Every day this week Judas is present in the gospel. Today he spoils the gathering in Bethany. Jesus goes to his friends’ home for a meal. With the two sisters and their brother, Lazarus, he can find understanding and support. Mary anoints Jesus with expensive ointment. Judas criticises her lavishness, saying the money could have helped the poor. There are times in life when it is right to spend a little extra on someone or something special.
