Hosanna

Have you been part of a victory parade? Crowds can be fickle. If in a crowd I simply follow the thinking of the group without personally choosing to do so, then I am letting myself be led. In the gospel account for the procession of the palms, people spread cloaks or greenery on the road Jesus takes riding on a donkey; they hail the one who comes in the name of the Lord. A few days later the cry will be: “crucify him!” I pray for the courage to be true to God – which means being true to myself.
