Defence strategies

Yesterday we heard how people from Judaea were ready to stone Jesus, accusing him of blasphemy by claiming to be equal to God. Today we continue to see polarisation in and around Jerusalem. The chief priests and Pharisees call for the death of Jesus, whereas many Jews who had visited the family at Bethany and seen Lazarus for themselves believe in him. Ezekiel offers consolation: God will gather his people together and bring them home, in a covenant of peace. May we work with God to bring about a unity that reflects God’s own.
