Thank you

God’s tender welcoming love shines through both of today’s readings. In the gospel parable, each of the 3 family members has gifts and limitations, vulnerabilities and strengths. Did the father show appreciation for his older son’s loyal dependability? The son felt he had been taken for granted. Instead of taking the initiative and asking his father for something to celebrate with, he chooses to be a passive victim, and blames: “You never offered me...” Is there someone that I need to show practical appreciation for today? Someone I’ve been taking for granted? May the Spirit help me to do this.
