Second week of Lent

Daniel 9:4-10; Psalm 79; Luke 6:36-38

Falling and rising

The toddler falls. With mum’s help he gets up again, and keeps going – then another fall and another pick up. But with each falling and rising his little legs are getting stronger. Mum doesn’t growl: falls are part of growth. In today’s gospel Jesus tells us how to deal with weakness and failure in ourselves and others. He invites us to be like God: compassionate, forgiving, non-judgmental. Jesus sends his Spirit to enable us to be givers of compassion, pardon and acceptance.
