Prayer

The disciples had asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. In this passage, Jesus teaches about confidence in prayer. Ask, seek, knock. These are the verbs we use when we want something from another person. Jesus instructs us to do the same in prayer. He goes further and compares a human father, who is limited, with God, who is all good. Jesus gives the assurance that prayer is heard because he himself prays. We are invited to pray for the needs of our world, our Church and our country.
