The Cross

Luke’s gospel takes us on our Lenten journey of faith today. Jesus spoke to his disciples about his cross. This was probably unwelcome news for them. They began to taste the real flavour of being a follower. Deny, lose, carry the cross. This is the menu for Jesus’ every day feast. Perhaps when these ‘dishes’ are befriended in prayer, happiness may be the dessert that follows. Should the cross be sickness, old age, poverty, Covid-19, or loss of a job, Jesus himself will encourage us as he carries his cross.
