Root-less

The death of John the Baptist did not weaken the work of Jesus and his disciples. More people were cured. This is consoling. However, Herod lacks courage. He likes John’s preaching but feels unable to save his life. Can he break his promise? After all he is the king. Possibly pride is his first priority and the reason why John’s message does not take root in his heart. We recall Jesus’ parable of the seeds that fell on rocky ground. We are invited to renew the soil of our hearts to allow the Spirit to grow in us.
