Disciples share Jesus’ mission

Jesus sends his disciples out by themselves to do his work. They are to take no bread, bag, money, only one tunic and one pair of sandals. Perhaps the lack of necessities suggests that the disciples have to resource their commission by depending on Jesus’ encouragement and strength. As his followers they go out in response to God’s call. Regardless of their slowness to grasp Jesus’ identity, they perform miracles. They rely on Jesus and we are invited to do the same.
