Rejection

Jesus had demonstrated his authority over nature, demons, sickness and death. Now in his home town, very little has happened because people did not believe. The townsfolk knew him as an ordinary boy, and son of Mary. They rejected his teaching, the gift of belonging to the Reign of God, and only a handful were cured. His disciples witnessed all this though we are not told of their reaction. Yet they stayed with Jesus which is encouraging. Despite rejection, Jesus continues his mission because it is his gift for us all.
