Saints Timothy and Titus, Bishops (F)

2 Timothy 1:1-8 or Titus 1:1-5; Psalm 96; Mark 3:31-35

Young and old

Titus and Timothy both have the distinction of being close companions and disciples of Paul, as well as being fellow missionaries. Timothy was comparatively young and rather timid, it seems, whilst Titus was more mature, an administrator and peacemaker within the Christian community which he came from. Their holiness was lived out in the ordinary day to day perplexities, sufferings and apparent failures of the early church. Why not read Paul’s letters to them? Two different men living ordinary lives in an extraordinary way. Good examples for us who are trying to do the same!
