Hebrews 9:2-3, 11-14; Psalm 47; Mark 3:20-21

He is out of his mind!

We expect the opponents of Jesus to speak ill of him, to plot against him. But his relatives? And, most shockingly, his mother (read carefully Mark 3:31 in this context)? Mark presents Mary as someone who had to grapple with the identity of her son. Who was he really? Mary is more like us than we may have imagined. She did not find it easy to convert from being just his mother to being his disciple. We should be encouraged by this and turn to Mary when we question and doubt Jesus. She understands.
