The Mission of the Twelve

The crowds may have been large - and growing! His fame may have been increasing. But Jesus did not become a celebrity who greeted the assembled multitude from a distant stage. He did not walk past waving briefly to the faceless crowd. His touch was personal. His relationship with those who trusted him and became his disciples warm and intimate. He knew them by name. As he was then so he is now! He knows us by name. We are not part of a crowd, a multitude. He draws close to us, calls us by name and sends us on mission.
