God’s strength in our weakness

Mary’s Magnificat echoes Hannah’s song of praise. Both of them praise God who raises the poor and lowly and “sends the rich away empty”. Jesus was born poor and remained poor until his death in total poverty. He relied on God his Father for everything. Hannah and Mary teach us that God can only fill us if we are empty, which means that when we feel that we have exhausted our own resources God will take over and work in and through us. He “fills the starving with good things”. Have we experienced this?
