St Andrew, Apostle (F)

Romans 10:9-18; Psalm 19; Matthew 4:18-22

Heeding the call

What a faithful, awake man St. Andrew was. Already a disciple of St. John the Baptist he was not quite ‘there’. Called to be an apostle he followed immediately. Getting ‘there’, being a follower of Jesus Christ means being alert to the call to leave a comfortable, known situation to move on to a situation in which I can get closer to Jesus Christ. God chooses these changes for me, always asking me to embrace difference, to embrace love, to learn more of the unknown God through learning from his Son. Can I obey and move on?
