Awaiting the birth

Whilst we wait for Christmas Day and prepare for this feast day, we know that Jesus Christ can come into our lives at any time. We must be prepared for this too. Isaiah speaks of longing, of mountains melting before God’s presence. St Paul too speaks of waiting, St. Mark of unexpected arrival. How do I long more for Jesus Christ, wait lovingly to actually feel his presence, stay alert and be spiritually prepared to receive him? The answer is perhaps to take time out to reflect on him as a baby whom I melt before. A baby longed for, waited for, prepared for.
